I was on the highway to heaven,
but racing speed demons
caused me to make a wrong turn.
Can't beat the heat of these streets.
I felt my tires burn.

Learned not from my first mistake.
My lust for the rush of the fast pace
kept me headed in the wrong direction.
I disregarded seatbelts.
It feels better without protection.

Next lesson…
Accidents happen.
Tires get flats.
And if you brake too late,
you are bound to crash.

Repairs are only temporary
when you drive in circles.
I am utterly lost,
but try to remain hopeful
that I will find the right path.
Hoping…Praying
that each wrong turn
will not be my last.

I would take one of the bridges back,
but I've burned them all.
I see other racers at the sides of the track.
Broken-down
Cursing God
cause their engines stalled.
